| Tytuł: CARELESS - England's Danny Care (No. 20) commits the offence which saw him sin-binned against Ireland |
THE message could not have been clearer from Martin Johnson. After months of watching his England half-wits throw away matches through an astonishing lack of discipline, boss Jonno has finally hammered home his message. He almost punched a hole through his desk in Dublin after Danny Care was sin-binned. But that was just the start. Mike Tindall admitted Johnson has put the fear of God through his squad ahead of today’s clash with France The centre said: If it happens again, Jonno will get his boots on and stamp on our heads. With Jonno, you can see there is obviously still a player there in him and when you are a player you can do something about it.But sat in the stands there is nothing to do apart from punch a chair. MIKE TINDALL - warning England had a two-hour meeting with top referee Wayne Barnes 10 days ago to find out why they’ve had 10 yellow cards in the last four matches. Tindall added: We have not conceded a try yet with 15 men on the field. We want to live on the edge but there were six that were too easy for the referee to call. Then it leads to a couple more on marginal calls because they have built up. We have to get rid of it. They look ugly and it is never going to help you convince the ref you are trying to do things legally. A lot of it is just clearing up how referees think about things. To get that sort of insight is invaluable. You learn how you can talk to referees and how they want to see it. Johnson lost his rag when Care was sin-binned for a brainless barge on Ireland’s Marcus Horan in the 14-13 defeat last month. James Haskell’s two yellow cards in four games means he has been canned. But Care has been given another chance and will be on the bench today. Tindall reckons Jonno has done the right thing standing by Care.
He added: I want the best players. If someone is consistently giving away
yellow cards you can question them. But it is not one person, it is not one
type of penalty and that is the frustrating thing. We won’t win a big game
until we have knocked it on the head.
